Balance, scale and proportion were the criteria for husband, wife and designer to collectively select furniture for the formal rooms of this Greek Revival Townhouse. The sitting room is furnished with identical leather sofas designed by Italian architect Pierro Lissoni. That symmetry is reinforced with a glass and steel coffee table designed by Mies van der Rohe, hand crafted Basket-stools from Cameroon and a metal painting by Margaret Evangeline. Art and furniture carefully chosen are symmetrical and placed opposite the exquisitely carved white marble mantle. The impressive dining room features a large painting by Helen Frankenthaler and sculpture by Bernar Venet. The dining table measuring 4-feet by 12-feet long and made entirely of stainless steel is placed parallel with the painting and sculpture. Twelve "Brno" chairs designed by Mies van der Rohe and a silk rug complete this artful and stately room.
