Various locations

"Cloud" The design of this elevator cab was intended to simulate the experience of moving vertically through a cloud. Walls were fabricated with an assembly of glass, plastic and mirror, allowing a passenger to see different densities of their own reflection, simulating the different opacities of marine stratus clouds. Designed for the15 Dutch Street Lofts. 01/1999

"Pavilion" For this Japanese shipping company a language of hand-crafted elements are mixed with machined metal and stone to create a vertically moving pavilion. The cast fiberglass light fixture emulates a sail in the wind while a select branch of white pine was used as the cab handrail. Designed while working for Kohn Pedersen Fox Architects. 05/94

"Window" Two adjacent elevator cabs in a former warehouse were designed with woven metal mesh walls and new side windows. Allowing passengers to see out into the skylight shaft and occasionally see another cab as it passes by.
