4 East 48th Street, NYC, NY

The owner envisioned a store design that would feature the selling and display of jewelry with on-site facilities for diamond cutting and polishing accessible to the public. The initial 1500 sf retail portion of the store was embellished with custom designed lighting, mahogany millwork and black slate floors to eliminate reflections. A custom designed workroom was located in the rear of the store. The demising wall facing the store was fabricated with a special light-refracting assembly of acrylic, glass and metal. This separate room allowed customers and staff to view the cutting and polishing process of a diamond, while containing carbon dust and noise from entering the retail store.
